Dobbe Family History

My Opa passed away yesterday.

February 5th is now a date forever etched into our family’s story—the day he joined my Oma, who passed away five years ago to the day. I know they are together again and for that I am so grateful.

My Opa and Oma came to this country from Holland, building a life from the ground up and giving us opportunities that began with his bravery and hard work. His story deserves to be remembered, shared, and honored.

I loved my Opa deeply and appreciated him more than I can put into words. From day one, he accepted me as one of his own - without hesitation, without conditions. That kind of love is a gift, and I never took it for granted. I will always be grateful for the way he welcomed me into our family and made me feel like I belonged.

I’m sharing this article because it tells the story of Opa’s earlier years—where he came from and the life he worked hard to build. I wanted it to be easy to find and easy to share, so those good years and that part of his story can be remembered.

Until we meet again Opi!
